Description

A heartrending and beautiful trilingual book that gives voice to the children of war-torn Ukraine, interspersed with moving works of art.

What is it like to be a child living in a country under siege—or living in a foreign city or land far from everything you have known and loved? In this moving and unforgettable book, Ukraine’s children speak out about growing up in amid the violence, terror, and death of war. Through the Eyes of Children is a collection of children’s quotes paired with evocative color artwork. Each quote appears in Cyrillic, transliterated Ukrainian, and English, making the book a tool for both language learning and language preservation.

Each copy sold funds a week’s mental health assistance for a Ukrainian child.

About the Author

The Voices of Children Charitable Foundation was officially established during the filming of the documentary A House Made of Splinters by Azad Safarov, the film’s assistant director and line producer, and Olena Rozvadovska, a human rights activist. Previously, the Foundation’s team worked as volunteers, and since 2015, have been providing psychological support for children affected by combat actions in Ukraine. Thanks to charitable contributions, the Voices of Children Foundation provides psychological support and individual humanitarian aid to families and works with communities and institutions for children throughout the country’s main areas, providing psychosocial support, humanitarian aid, and child rights advocacy. Since the outbreak of the full-scale war in Ukraine in 2022, the Foundation has significantly scaled up its activities. It has helped more than 4,500 children to receive professional psychological support and provided humanitarian aid to more than 13,000 families. Today, more than 60 psychologists, psychiatrists, and therapists are working to ensure that Ukrainian children do not lose their childhood and their smiles.
