Description

The Red Kangaroo follows a twenty-three-year-old British backpacker around the continent of Australia. Equipped with a giant backpack, a diary, and a sense of adventure, The Red Kangaroo is packed full of travel stories.

Based on actual experiences recorded during 2001 (a year when the world was turned upside down by 9/11, social media was not yet a thing, and photos still had to be developed) it follows the complexities of a long-distance relationship, along with friendships formed during sweaty bus rides to beautiful locations, working on banana farms and drinking questionable wine from a box.

The completed diary, filled with ticket stubs and photos, marks the beginning of the author's life down under.
