Description

This anthology is the first Canadian collection of union research papers on issues of technology and workplace reorganization.

These papers deal with issues of major concern to both unionized workers and their families and those not protected by a union. In short, they are for all those interested in understanding the important technological and structural changes occurring in the workplace and society as a whole.

The nine articles in this collection have been written by union researchers as part of the Technology Adjustment Research Programme. The TARP programme is a research project funded by the Ontario government through the Ministry of Economic Development and administered by the Ontario Federation of Labour. The Ontario Federation of Labour, affiliated to the Canadian Labour Congress, is the largest union federation in Ontario with some 650,000 members. TARP involves 17 unions and union related centres in research into the effects of technological change and the "new" economy on the union movement and on labour in general.
