Praise For…

Summer Stroll in the City Cathy Goldberg Fishman Illustrated by Melanie Hall The cheerful celebrations of the summer engage all of the senses in this colorful counting board book that takes readers on a stroll through the park. Starting with one splashing fountain and ending with ten people sipping pink lemonade, the whole book is a delightful treat that captures the essence of summertime. Along with the typical features of most parks, there are several unique multicultural additions as well, such as djembe drummers and bougatsa treats. The collage-style illustrations are particularly colorful and eye-catching. Diverse people appear on all the pages, and a list on the back cover of the book notes what is depicted alongside each number, providing further context. Specific cultural festivities are vividly depicted, such as Juneteenth or the Dragon Boat Festival. This book would be an especially enjoyable selection for any family or summer reading event, and is perfect for infants, toddlers, and even preschoolers. Children who like this title will definitely want to collect all of the other seasonal “In the City '' books in the series for a whole year’s worth of counting.—Children's Literature

Young readers will enjoy counting their way through the city with rhyming text and papercraft illustrations. The board book is fashioned for little hands and lots of sharing. (Ages baby-3)—Christine Irvin, Midwest Book Review
