Description

To the Indigenous people around the world who were placed in boarding schools, orphanages, institutions, foster homes, and sent to other countries to grow up away from their families. Some of us made it, and some of us didn't. I am one of those survivors. This book is about my healing journey that started as a young girl. Although not all of her memories were good ones she shares with you some of her better memories, her child like innocence the things she experienced in nature and plants. Ms. Middletent finds her Spiritual harmony in nature meditating Children Of The Light Meditation, this is how she connects with the divine creator.

The book is also dedicated to children and adult survivors and for the ones that are not here right now. Ms. Middletent shares with you some of her coping techniques that helped her through her rainy days as a young girl and today. Through practicing the Children Of The Light Meditation, painting the Australian Aboriginal art, writing, and growing up outside in nature has helped her in her own healing therapy. Ms. Middletent is from the Kabi Kabi Tribe. Carmel is still looking for her Sister Caron Trapp from Brisbane Australia, as her and her sister Caron were separated not long after Carmel was born.

Ms. Middletent was home recently and for the first time saw a picture of her great-grandmother Towcha and realized that this was the same lady she saw in her dreams. If it wasn't for Ms. Middletent moving to America, she would never have met her mentor in the USMC, a cultural heritage specialist/anthropologist/archaeologist in Twentynine Palms, California, who taught her all about the Australian Aboriginal art at an ancient Native American petroglyph site. Carmel would not be writing this book and painting in the Australian Aboriginal art if it were not for her mentor. Today Carmel is a First Nations Australian Aboriginal Artist, Teacher of Children of The Light Meditation, Teacher of The Dreamtime Teachings at The Dreamtime Lodge and a trained certified Pranic Healer of Master Stephen Cho and trained as a breath work teacher by Mr. and Mrs. Haggard successors of the teachings of Ding Lei Mei at Mental Psychics of "Joshua Tree Ca".

Ms. Middletent is the founder of First Nations Healing Arts Coalition International, a 501(c)(3) organization. The organization is to empower and inspire First Nations People toward their healing journey and recovery through their cultural heritage, whether it be painting, writing, meditation, ceremonies, music, storytelling, arts and crafts and pow wows, and a collaboration between all First Nations Survivors of oppression, suppression, depression, and Historical Intergenerational Trauma. Please contact Ms. Middletent for further information or through her PO Box 1211, Twentynine Palms, California 92277.

In a similar way "A Place Called Home" tells specific story of growing up in "Out Of Home Care". In the uniqueness of the book's voice and story every reader can see their own humanity, and feel the sorrow for those who have suffered in the past, and for those who have suffered today, in "Out Of Home Care" because of genocide, war and race, and immigration policies. Like Anne Frank's Diary, in "A Place Called Home" there are not only traumatic episodes, there is also awareness and appreciation of beauty in the world and gratitude for the kindness of others. A full human being is sketched in the chapters.
