Description

Water is the lifeline for the human beings not only for the living purposes but also for their activities since primitive man. Further, almost all the ancient civilizations such as Harappa, Mohenjo-Daro, Nile (Egypt and Italy) are exist along the rivers alone (WWDRYT, 2012). Another important aspect is that the water suitable for drinking purpose is very scarce resource on the earth. Hence, the human civilizations are worshipped the rivers as goddess in almost all the civilizations. The dependency on water is increasing at an alarming rate over the period. The future predictions are also indicate that fresh water resources will diminishing rapidly as a result several wars may take place to acquire adequate water resources (Nuscheler et. al., 2009). At this situation, the prime necessity is to conserve to protect the water resources in big way to meet the future requirement to sustain life on the earth. A part from this, the quality of the water is also effected significantly and in turn the potability nature is lost in almost all the Nag S.K. (2005), water resources in the world.

The technological development achieved by man has result the exploitation of natural resources at an ever increasing pace. This development is always to create the better opportunities and better comforts for living. Ironically in this process, man has done knowingly and unknowingly the greatest damage to the ecosystem, which of course include himself in the race for technological supremacy. The developed countries have enormously increased the industrial installations without much concern about the far reaching damage to be done to the surrounding environment.
