Description

Naxalism has been derived from naxalbari which a very small village in the state of West Bengal. It is the village where Charu mazumdar, Jangal Santhal and Kanu Sanyal led a revolt against Government. Sen (1982) has said that the ‗then precedent of Siliguri Kishan Sabha' who was Jangal Santhal advocated adaptation of armed struggle for equal and rational distribution of land. At the same time a sharecropper of that village was beaten by musceles men of landlord over a minor land dispute. When the police came to that palace where such incidence occurred, some tribal youths under the leadship of Kanu Sanyal attacked police force and a policeman was killed by arrows. Diwanji (2003) has written that this incidence encouraged tribal youths to join the movement and attack on local landlords began to start. It was reported in Outlook (2012) that this was a failure of provision of 5th and 6th schedule of constitution. It was Charu Mazumdar who adopted Zedong's people's war ideology. He propagated ‗Historic Eight Documents' which was the base of naxalite ideology. This document attracted a large number of urban elites. ‗These documents were in essays form. Anthony (2015) has said that this document contained the opinion of Mao, Marx and Lenin.
