Description
After decades of struggle and armed conflict, in 1821, Mexico became an independent nation. To many, it seemed that a promising future was on the horizon, but the crudeness of reality quickly erased such hopes. From 1821 to 1855, Mexico was plagued with conflicts, uprisings, unstable rulers, and mounting debts, not to mention invasion attempts and significant territory losses. Once again, history provides us with proof that growing pains are experienced by all emerging cultures.
